West Coast USA - K6KPH

How to read the charts

The chart shows the best frequency to use if working from the UK to west coast USA. The dark green (squares) plot shows the optimum frequency and the light green plot shows the next best frequency to use. These are based on SSB 100W, dipole to dipole and a "good" reception. Adjust the reliability according to your own station.

West Coast USA

Reliability/Band graph produced by WinCap Wizard/VOACAP
This shows that to work the West Coast USA from the UK, 20m (14 MHz) or
17m, (18MHz) are your best bets. The reliability only gets to around 8-10% for "Fair" CW contacts at 6pm GMT.
This is a tough path and K6KPH at Point Reyes will not come on until 5pm GMT (6pm BST) anyway.
They will be CW only on 20m if they are on, but they run lots of power.
